Our latest celebrities!

Well, not really . . . but since Josh and Greg were each on a magazine, I thought I would add Liv and Calvin to the family fame. :)
I would have made Liv's face appear on a BABY magazine, but they didn't have one available - it was either "Bride" or "Hip Hop" . . . hmmm. ;)

Another Fire

This is a great photo of the flames.

Liv's laughter part 2

She really is quick to laugh . . . thanks for sharing with us!

And it came to pass . . .

That I found my camera cord!!
Now, let's get this started . . .

100 ACCELERATED READER POINTS!!

He finally made it!!! Whew! He got a bookbag at 50 points and a T-shirt at 100. I don't think he will earn much more before the school year ends, but we don't mind - - we are very excited about this. Even his teacher from last year (actually 1st and 2nd grade were with the same teacher and class) found him in the hall to congratulate him! They broadcast the news of AR "winners" over the morning news via TV, so the whole school saw him. Yeah, yeah, I am bragging I know. :)

LIVA-LOU and JOSHA-POO
Don't ask me, but that is what Greg calls the two of them. We finally let Liv venture into the food-storage and play room area recently. Josh was showing her the food from their play kitchen. btw: This is the most awesomest kitchen ever! We have had it for a few years (Santa) and it is still just as good as when it arrived. I have little doubt that my grandkids will even be playing on it.

Oh, and the play room and food storage are not together - - that would be dangerous. :) The food is behind Liv (you can see our empty water drum in the background) and Josh is coming out of the playroom.

SPRING BREAK FUN

We took the boys bowling (for free) but made up for the freebie by going to Medieval Times Restaurant. Kids ate free during Spring Break, but we still dropped a load of cash that we would NEVER usually spend on food (tax season does bring perks. lol) **We opted for Medieval Times over Six Flags this year.

We had sooo much fun! We cheered for "our knight" and boo-ed the rest. The boys were so in to the whole thing, that it made the night just perfect. We ate with our fingers and no one seemed to care that half our food was hanging out of our mouths while we cheered and yelled (their food was hanging just the same as ours!).

The only "downside" according to Greg was this: the knights would throw roses into the audience to young ladies as they saw them. Our knight pointed to Liv and threw her a rose . . . the old lady next to Greg jumped over him to grab the thing . Greg wasn't a bit happy, but I figured the lady probably got more use out of it than Olivia would have. :)

DOGWOODS

So, I recently discovered the Dogwood trees that we planted in our yard a few years ago. They smell sooo pretty! Spring is here!

FLAG CEREMONY

Calvin neede to participate in an outdoor flag ceremony for scouts. We talked with the school and they let him help the safety patrol one afternoon. Can you see how excited he was to carry the flag inside?! :)

Yes, yes - we take cub scouts very seriously. :)

KBB, do you recognize that shirt?? ;)
(How do you like my attempt to disguise the young safety patrol next to Calvin?)

FISHING

Greg took the boys fishing twice last week. Once at the park and once at "Mr. Dudley's house". Mr. Dudley is a wonderful little old man in a wheel chair who loves our family and we sure love him. He helped Greg fix a Go-Kart for the boys one year, and then asked for it back so he could tinker with it some more. . . he returned it with a new engine and a two-seater deal! It is so much fun. This is why having land (1 1/5 acres) is worth the work. lol.

Anyway, Mr. Dudley has a lake in his yard and also seems to have fish as well. Calvin wouldn't touch his fish, nor would he bait his own hook, but had no problem watching Greg filet the fish later at home. Me? I had to walk out of the room while Greg did his thing. :(

Liv and Daddy
Liv's famous tongue!! Dad is plugged into his iPod . . . sometimes I can hear him singing as he cuts the grass. I don't think he knows I can hear him. lol.

MORE POSTS COMING SOON!

Soooo, I have some good pics to post . . .
AND, I would post them right now . . .
but I can't find my camera cord.

For those who keep up with my day-to-day life, you will know that I have also misplaced my cell phone. Last week I lost my wallet (only to find it at Kroger . . . thank goodness!!), and I think that this week I will lose my mind.

As an aside to T. Jay and Crystal . . . at least I didn't lock my keys in my car! lol. ;)

Sooo, I will have more to post when I locate the technology I need to do so.

For those who might be tuning into our blog for the first time and need a bit of history (you know, the whole "What have you been doing all these years?"), check out our first post http://ourpemberly.blogspot.com/2007/10/okay-so-this-is-my-first-blog-post.html

The three bears . . .

Liv chillin' in the office chair

I found the boys this morning in the same position! They both had their knees up, both had their heads turned the same way, both had their hands folded the same way, both sound asleep. I thought it was cute. :)

PINEWOOD DERBY!

Calvin is the cute little scout with the hat and neckerchief on.

FOURTH PLACE!

Calvin came in fourth place and was very excited about it.

It was a fun little race and we are looking forward to next year.

Easter

Happy Easter!

Here is our day!

Our baskets really weren't that big, so it gives the impression that they are stuffed to the hilt with goodies. :)

The white stuff you see on the table is glitter . . . perhaps the easter bunny left it there??

Liv's got toys and baby spoons!

The boys got a giant Hershey's kiss, a chocolate "woodland animal" and some toys - bubbles to blow for Liv and some pencils and erasers.

After church (Greg came home shortly after we did - miracle of miracles) and he hid the easter eggs . . . the first time I think he ever did that. This year our eggs didn't contain candy. Credit for the following idea comes from the Ensign Magazine. I put pictures of Jesus and scriptures in each egg. As the boys opened their eggs, we talked about what each picture was and their thoughts - we read each scripture. One egg was left empty. That was the best one of all . . . to help us remember the emtpy tomb on Easter.

I just love this time of year - I think more than Christmas! Jesus lives. He lives; I know he does! I hope you all had a wonderful day as well.

My Good ideas

Yeah, yeah - sometimes I DO get good ideas . . . mostly I just see seomething in a magazine or hear of another idea and and adapt it to suit our needs. :)

Here are my latest ideas... (as I learn and remember better visually, I am posting photos to show. :)

We "read our way to bowling". For each book the boys read, they earned a bowling pin for the wall - - at the top was a bowling ball that said "Family Bowling Trip" Once we reached the bowling ball, we got to go bowling- hence the photos posted earlier with our bowling trip. :) It got the boys reading and was fun to see the books we read!

--------------------------

March 17th FHE: Shamrock scavenger hunt - the boys LOVE scavenger hunts and this one ended at the oven with cupcakes! (Ignore Josh's crazy eyes. :)

----------------------------

Okay, so Calvin is working on memorizing his multiplication tables, so I jazzed it up a little . . . I saved several dollars and made our own flash cards. I taped them to the wall in the kitchen, the wall in the bathroom (yes, the bathroom) and even on his bedroom ceiling. See the quarter taped to the door? When he completes a number set and has them all memorized, he can take the quarter down and it is his to keep (most kids would ask for more than a quarter, but Calvin is not one of those kids. lol.) When he has a fact memorized he can turn the card over to hide the answer.

The bedroom flashcards? Well, credit goes to Family Fun magazine for that idea . . . Calvin gets a flashlight for bed and has to spend time each night shining his FLASHlight on his FLASH cards to memorize them .

----------------------------------

Our "Get up and GO" Chart. credit goes to Supernanny for this one. This is a bad photo, but the boys each have a wooden pirate piece and each morning their pieces start at the bottom of the poster. First thing is to read scriptures (with mom), then make bed, take bath (if needed), get dressed, brush hair, brush teeth. We use velcro to move the pieces up to the Pirate Ship. They both love it and it makes the morning go so much more smoothly!! We keep scripture sets in their bedroom so as soon as they are awake enough, we move to the floor and read.

-----------------------------

Another idea that doesn't have a photo . . . credit goes to my mom for this one . . . I sometimes wake the boys up with a cup of hot cocoa. I got so tired of "begging" them to wake up, that I started bringing a mug of cocoa to their beds. They sit right up and start chugging. Josh will often wake up and announce that "The cocoa is coming!" Each time I have woken them up with this technique, they get right up and our day is bliss!!!
As an aside to this, I used to make our morning cocoa from scratch (the best way to do it), but was lured into using instant cocoa by KBB - talk about carnal security! Sheesh.

Liv's laughter

Josh has a special way of making Liv laugh - almost scream laugh. It is so funny to watch.
Enjoy!

Pinewood Derby Time!

The race is fast approaching, and Calvin is hard at work. Calvin designed the car, Greg cut it out (roughly), and Calvin has sanded it (actually, we have all sanded a bit. Each time I walk by the car, I will pick it and and sand some more - I have even seen Josh sneak a sanding in. Does that count as cheating? :) Anyway, I guess the next step is to paint and weigh. A lady in our ward has a scale that I think she will let us use.
FYI - Calvin is wearing his scarf as a mask so he wouldn't inhale the sawdust - Greg's idea. :)

Liv's cute face

Just thought I would share - Liv likes to show off her teeth. :)
The tooth count for now: 6
Oh, and she is clapping, waving, saying "uh-oh", saying "bye, bye, bye", crawling, pulling up on things, laughing, screaming at her brothers (they like to see who can "outscream" the other), pushing buttons (mostly on toys, but sometimes she'll push mine!), sleeping in her own bed at night (!), has stopped taking food from a spoon and will only take it (forcefully, almost) through a medicine dropper (hopefully this is only temporary), and....I think that is it. She is the happiest little thing in the world - I need to record her laugh b/c it is so cute.
K, enjoy!

50 Accelerated Reader Points!

Much thanks to Greg, Calvin earned 60 AR points recently! At his school, the 50-point level earns a yellow silicone bracelet and a "Star Reader" book bag. Calvin was awarded his goods on the TV morning news at school, and so of course I was on scene with camera in hand (and baby on hip). He was way more excited than he looks on the picture. :)
FYI - for those who don't know . . . AR is a program that allows students to test on books they have read. Each book is assigned a point value (ranging from .5 to 15+), and the test score determines how many points a student will receive.

Mr. Beatbox

How cool is this??!

New church site about the Savior

Hey, did everyone see this?
www.JesusChrist.lds.org

We are signed up for LDS Gems and this was their latest emailing. It is a really neat site. You can watch videos here (including Finding Faith in Christ)!

Lots to read here, but very fun to navigate.

Enjoy!

Our little Jedi

This was taken a while ago, but i thought it was cute enough to post - Liv is such a doll.

Greg is on a magazine cover!

Well, Josh and Greg have both graced the covers of magazines . . . now if we can just get Calvin, Olivia and myself onto a cover . . . lol. yeah, right!

Anyway, this is the cover of the County's Annual Report (by the way, Greg's station was the busiest station last year!). Greg is one of the two men walking on the far right side. This was quite the fire (obviously). The two men were talking as they walked up to the fire.

Basketball Calvin

Nice game face, huh?

President Hinckley

Thanks to PB for sending this video to me, and thanks to HN for giving me the idea to post it.

The quote below came from our ward newsletter, thanks to ALO for adding it so we could read it again.

Stand a Little Taller
President Hinckley
For I remember the word of God which saith by their works ye shall know them; for if their works be good, then they are good also. ~Moroni 7:5

"You are good. But it is not enough just to be good. You must be good for something. You must contribute good to the world. The world must be a better place for your presence. And the good that is in you must be spread to others."

Doesn't that sound just like President Hinckley?
